Default Anybody remember the thread or technique

Just monkey doodling around trying to remember something. I remember something about grouping but not all of it so let me explain.
Start with a square or whatever and give it a liniear transparency. Then you can group it and give it a second liniear transparancy in a different direction. I can only do this two times but it seems to me there was a method of regrouping and giving more transparancies so you can fade all four sides. Or maybe I'm just dreaming, that does seem to happen more and more lately.

Also, while I'm logged on, I would like to thank Bill Taylor "the man" with his help getting the space bar back to the way it was and the way it should be, allowing me to switch between the select tool and others instead of the silly and useless push tool. Too bad the icons are limited to silly faces and do not include a trophy or bottle of beer, now there would be an icon.............frank

Hi Frank - you just keep on grouping - with a 'dummy' object [ no fill and no outline] each time

Thanks Steve and Sammy, that's what I was forgetting

Actually, I was playing with a photo along the lines of the last tutorial, trying to make my dog disappear in the St. Lawrence and could only use the transparancy along two lines. (By the way, the tempature of the river is 3-4 degrees c., you have a 5 minute life expecancy if you fall in, the dog's name is "Dufus" and people wonder why I called him that) Anyway, the hidden object is what I was looking for.

Guess when I hit 60 the old brain cells started dying at an accelerated rate. Actually it probably happened in my 20's but just can't remember it happening ..... ......frank

    Hi Frank,

Glad I could help with the spacebar.

If you need to have transparency on all four sides of a square or rectangle you can use the Diamond Transparency. No need for grouping and using hidden objects.

    Bill
Good tip. What a dramatic difference with the black background.

If you need less than 50 pixels worth of transparency then you can use the feather to achieve the exact same thing...

I captured this young lady doing between 65-75 MPH (100-120 KPH) on the way back to Sturgis today. Note the feathered edges.

I have found that wind shields do work. You get a little wind but not alot.

Maybe she is using the same type of hair spray that Mary used in "Something about Mary".

Without a wind shield a big guy works pretty good too. see Attached....

For more information, ask Mike Bailey. He is a biker, I just take pictures.
