Hi Sadicus,
You can use the Line Gallery to change the type of join for a line.
The default is Beveled join. If you have no lines or shapes selected you can open the Line Gallery and select Round or Miter and a popup dialog will ask if you want to make that the current attribute.

Thank you for asking this question....I needed to know too.
Nice!
I am still trying to learn Xara to be my main production tool (coming from Corel X3)
Drawing Cartoons, Anime ect I have been using the Pen tool alot.
1) draw Lines (make sure they overlap) Copy The Lines
2) Arrange> combine Shapes> Add Shapes
3) Break apart
4) Delete the top shape (you are left with the Fill Color)
5) paste in place copied Lines
Then , and Paste the Outlines over the top
Very useful
Thanks for the help.

sounds like you work similar to me sadicus
often with cartoons a broken line [one with gaps] is what you need, say along a hairline
in this case you can copy layer the broken line art to a layer above
on the lower layer then bridge the gaps convert lines to shapes, add, break
and you have the fill shapes as you describe - with the line art over it on the top layer [you can move this back if you wish]
this is where the top shape comes in useful - there will be gaps where the lines are missing, where these are on the outer edge, as in hairline, the top shape can be moved to the bottom and colored as required to fill this in as it follows the line exactly
it also makes a good silhouette, or custom shadow
gaps within the drawing can be filled from behind by a manually drawn shape of course..
