I'm not sure what has happened to this file but EVERY SINGLE NEW OBJECT recieves a feather now. I drew a new line and all of a sudden it wasn't there, but it was and I came to realize that the stupid feather tool was 'stuck' and applying feathers to every new object created. I even tried to unfeather it and then continue to draw more onto the shape using the Freehand tool and it re-applies the feather. I do have some objects feathered in the file but this is a new layer.

I think, in a future version of Xara, that each new layer does not copy the other layers properties (this is common in raster programs and since these are raster effects I don't see why this can't happen in Xara.).

Is there a way to make this stop happening in my current file or do I need to create another file??

    Many thanks
    Richard

Now that's something I haven't heard before http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/eek.gif I guess I would open a new file and import the graphic to see if the probem migrates to the new file ... but knowing you ... you already tried that.

    Gee Richard ... I'm running X1, but I don't have that feature http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

HA HA, very funny Mister!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Yea, I started a new file. Just don't have the time to be stressing over this right now. Hopefully someone will know what's up!

Richard, I hope this isn't a dumb question, but did you copy something and then paste the attributes with that feather, and then possibly paste the attributes with nothing selected? That would reset your default attributes to the feathered line. If that IS the case, simply cranking the feather back down to 0, Ctrl-C copying and pasting the attributes (Ctrl-Shift-A)with nothing selected-- should rectify the situation.

Actually that was a cool process figuring out how to reproduce the problem, as I learned something tonight! Thank you!

    hi Richard,

Try opening a new file... If the feathring is still turned on, you saved it accidentily in your default template... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Yea, that's what I ended up doing and the new file and new template are fixed now.

Dan's suggestion to re-set that area of the template was easily remedied by setting the feathering down to " 0 " points and then copy and pasting attributes to a non selected area and the little dialog poppped up and asked me it I wanted this to be set as default attributes. So that's fixed. THANKS Dan!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I think that Charles or someone like Dmitry should create a "template tab" that shows you what areas of the program are set to what with options to change them. It might add a bit more control to the program making a few of us even more happy with Xara X1!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

That is odd. I would have guessed that you might have applied feathering with nothing selected, but as I think of it, I don't think that is possible. I just checked, it's not.

    Hmmm?
