How to rotate a .mov video file?

I took a short video with my wife's Panasonic P&S camera holding it in the portrait perspective. However, the default playback on my computer is landscape and the video's a little dark. Anybody know of a simple editor I can use to rotate and lighten this video file?

If you want GPL (freeware) software try:
MP4CAM2AVI to convert your .MOV to .AVI

Then use VirtualDUB to make your changes and then save.

Well jolly nice of you John - but that hardly teaches joroho anything useful.
Flipping won't help anyway, I think he needs to rotate it 90 degrees.

Indeed convert to .avi is the way
The turning can then be done in windows moviemaker

Thanks, guys. I didn't realize that the .mov format is such a proprietary code. Believe it or not, I was able to import it into Photodex's ProShow Gold and do the rotation and lightening there. I wasn't expecting that.

it was far cheaper than what I was going to suggest... Premierre isn't cheap.

Just a question of symantics... flip, rotate... reguritate, it is all just a change.

OK John, your semantics aside, 'flip' = Mirrored in any language regarding image orientation.
I was making certain things didn't become obfuscated for everyone else.

You're right about Adobe Premiere, it is expensive and probably over-kill, but then there are plenty of free (open source) applications to accomplish the gamma/brightness correction and rotation.
