    John, I notice that you're using glow shadows on your text. If you really must have these I recommend Copy to clipboard. Select originals and Convert to editable shapes, ungroup and delete what was the text but now's a shape. Your left with only the bitmap of the glow shadow. Create a new layer and Ctrl+Shify+V the text from the clipboard and remove the glow shadow, leaving just the text. Forum members recommend having your text on it's own layer.

    Yes, the glow shadow is the reason for the white rectangle. Before exporting as PDF I am always doing what Egg suggested and also I'm making one bitmap for the raster pieces. In your case, you'd get one bitmap as background (including all shadows) and your text above it.
