    Default Envelope problem

I just tried applying an envelope, for the first time since buying Xtreme 4, and the object simply disappears, everytime I select the type of envelope. Can someone tell me what is going on? I'm trying to distort vector objects only.

    Mary

Tell us more about the kind of vector objects and the number of objects.

I just applied various envelopes to a selection of objects with no problem.

Also, are you working on a new document or a document that has been open for a while?

I find that the more stuff I do in a document, usually a multi-page tutorial where I am doing all kinds of things, is when I have problems. Like a vector cocktail.

    Mary?

Don't know what she's doing, but I was just trying to warp a group of three vector objects, it was a new doc.

No live effects, no feathering, nothing fancy at all, just a plain black rectangle with a couple of white lines on top. I grouped them and selected the envelope tool then tried various envelopes from the options bar - that's when the group just disappeared.

Hmm...I think you may have been right Gary, in a way.

I just tried it again and it worked this time! The only difference I can think of is that before I was listening to the radio streaming online. could there have been some interference? Weird.

Problem seems to have gone for now, thanks lads.

Hi Mark, I had the same thing happen the other day. You click on the mould tool and select the type of mould and Phhttt! the shape disappears. I messed about a bit and got it working in the end. Unfortunately I can remember exactly what I was doing (apart from constructing a 3D dice with the 3D tool and the fake sides with the mould tool) and I can't reproduce it either.

I'll pay more attention next time.

I just discovered today that I'm having the disappearing problem with the envelope tool in XX5 as well. I was able to 'correct' it by selecting a colored line/fill and having the text re-appear, but every time I adjusted the envelope the text revanished and I was stuck reapplying the color. It's happening with everything I try to mould.

    Hi Chainfire,

Can you attach a .xar file that exhibits the problem?

I've been playing around trying to duplicate the problem but without success. No disappearing regardless how much I distort the text.

Folding it back on itself also doesn't make it disappear.
