Actually, you don't need the anchor after all for the title attribute to show on hover.

How do I add a popup to a rollover only after the user clicks?
I have the food icons using rollover and now I want to add a popup to each one without disabling the rollover 'animation'.

    Hi Salaam,

I like the site very much. Very fun.

It's the kind of design I WANT to do and wind up doing something completely disinteresting and utilitarian.

    Thanks for the inspiration.

I think you can work with 2 ideas here.

1: use a mouseover layer for the icons on screen. As long as nothing overlaps, that should work.

2: use popups for the clickable stuff.

I did something similar on this site.

Although I have so many things on the page it's taking too long to load.

Loads pretty quickly here - roughly 3 seconds, I guess it depends on your connection speed. I'm on a 1.5mbit DSL connection, the fastest available in my rural area.

On the front page, the baby shots, 15 /17 /24 are still PNG type images. The rest are JPG. You might want to correct this, it'll help the load times a bit.

    Thanks for looking, Steve.

Did everything load in 3 seconds? Mouseover layer, etc.?

I'm on a shared T1 at work and Cable at home.

It took just under 10 seconds to load on my system. I have a T1, but there are probably 100+ users on it.

This website optimization page calculates that your webpage can take up to 13 seconds to load with a T1 connection. This time is based on the number of graphic files for the page and I find is usually a worse case time. The time to load a web page depends upon both file size and the number of files.

    Thanks Brody, cute site.
I think that you should use some feathering with some of the photos against a similar background to stop it from looking pixelated.

2; If you could tell me how to use pop-ups with a click I would be very grateful.

    Hi again Salaam,

I'm working on that site sparingly - feathering is definitely in the future for those images, thanks!

If you look at http://www.brodyharris.com/popups.htm I put together some example buttons for you.

I have attached the Xar file so you can see the layers.

I had trouble with this initially as well.

I saw a great explanation from Covoxer in this thread with a demo also.
