When I've finished the pic and posted it, I'll give a quick outline of how I did the fur. It's mostly experimenting.

Thanks for the kind words on my work. This is more the completion of a doodle more than a work with any end goal in mind.
As for the flame effect, I was going to break the flame apart and make an explanation file out of it but it's really a bit too complex to do that. There are a total of 10 layers making up the flame. There are multiple effects used to try and get a volumetric feel. One of the layers is in fact a bitmap copy of a another several layer object that then has a fractal transparency applied to it.
If anyone is really curious and wants a copy of the flame portion of my drawing just ask. It's really the only way to explain what I did.

I'd love a copy of your flame image if poss.
The whole drawing is brill but the flame is something else.

Hope you can make sense of it...

I just thought the actual SHAPE of the plasma "flame" might have been done using Dmitry's fractal generator. Here's an example (edited slightly in XaraX) for comparison:
"Communication is everything"
Interesting Simon. No, my shape was hand traced from my sketch. The program made a close copy though...
