    Question Listing of Fonts Installed?

Is there a listing anywhere of the fonts that Xara can/does install?

I as far as I could tell the installer does not let you pick and choose.

I don't know if there is a listing.

But a great free font viewing utility is THEFONTTHING.

Do a google search for the font thing /thefontthing and download it.

It will list all the fonts in your windows system. And let you type a phrase and see how it looks.

Thanks, but I'm not concerned about what already is installed (I can do that my looking in my dropdown list or the Fonts Gallery in Xara).

I'm concerned about what will be installed.

Open the CD to view it's contents and navigate to \Fonts\TrueType\Xarainfo\ and find the file "Xarafont.txt" which is a list of all the (Truetype) fonts.

There are other text files in the folder which list fonts by type.

(I don't have the new CD yet, so the above info is based on the Xtreme Pro 3.0 CD. But, I imagine it's the same on the new one.)

EDIT: Well, I've received my Pro 4 CD and of course the contents are completely different than Pro 3, so ignore the above. However, I think I'm right in saying that the fonts don't get installed to Windows, the folder is just copied to your Pro 4 installation.

Just a note; You do not have to install a font in order for it to be available for use in Xara. Just open the font file of choice and minimize it to the task bar before opening Xara and it will then be listed in the font menu.

Usefull to test a font prior to installing it for sure, but unless you convert the uninstalled font to shapes, it will not be available next time you open the .xar file for editing. Unless you want to open the file and minimise it to the task bar each time, in which case you'd probably be better off install it right

I was able to do a search of the 4X CD and found the .txt file that lists the available fonts.

    Thanks, John
