    Default % of Pantone

How can one specify a % of a pantone color?

Also can one use a % of a black pantone to darken another pantone color?
If so how is that done in xara?

I was going to tell you it's a no-brainer. But I just tried it.

You should be able to apply a Pantone spot color, and then adjust the Tint in the Color Editor. But nooooo.

I tried naming a red Pantone spot color giving it the exact same Pantone name and number and it turned yellow!

I just tried it again. I selected a rectangle and applied a Pantone Spot Color from the Color Menu and then selected Tint of Another Color and this time it worked the way it should.

That is great, thank you so much.
Now can i have a black pantone with a transparency over another pantone color? is this recommended or not?
    I have the file attached.
In this case would this be a valid file for prepress?

I exported your file as a PDF/X and opened the file in Acrobat. It shows your Pantone ochre and Pantone Process Black.

I would not use a process black but just a Pantone Black.

But it looks like it works fine.

Thanks Gary, I was just wondering if this method is used often to get different tonal values for a pantone color, by overlapping a black (different % values) over a lighter pantone color?
Also Gary I can not find just pantone Black.

I'm not sure how this is handled to be honest.

You can do a search for Black in the Properties dialog (of all places!)

Nope, its not right to have transperency in pantones

to be honest your right way for creation of some tint of pantones over other pantones is overprint

to can imagine what exactly you do with this overprints just for example and preview you can use multiply transperency on overprinted objects...

Surely if you have a percentage of a Pantone Colour, you'll just end up with a different pantone colour won't you?
