    Talking Vector Tool/Bitmap

    Is there a vector tool on Adobe Illustrator? Also can you paste images from Adobe Illustrator into Xara 3D. Or do you have to save it as a.wmf file or bitmap? Please help!!!

    Hi Jinz.

    Adobe Illustrator is a Vector tool.. You have all the tools available to create your vector Illustration.

    Perhaps you are asking about a bitmap tracer? Or have I missed the point of your question?

    You have to export your Illy file as a Jpeg or WMF as you stated, copy and paste only works with X1 files and above. Please remember to keep your file straight vectors when you export to .wmf as anything bar plain colours and shapes would need to be imported as Jpeg.

    This is a very cool web app that is better at vectorisation than most paid for alternatives, made by Stanford Uni;
    http://vectormagic.com/
    I've tried it and I like it!
    I probably read about it on this forum, but maybe on Designfeed.

    P.S. I've just checked the site today and now you have to pay for your downloaded converted vector graphics! (Approx 2 US$ per pic) It was free a couple of weeks ago... Still you can use the app all the way with previews of the output before you have to pay up, worth a try if you're doing paid for work.
