The gallery as it is give this excellent piece of software a bad name ... it's truly terrible. There should be three galleries ... noobies work, professional work, artists work.

In that way it would not seem from someone first coming to Talkgrphics that it was a completely useless piece of software only used by the hobbist truly talentless and might get more people thinking you could do good things with it.

I have been here for 5 months and to be honest, the gallery gives Xtreme a bad name! BAD MARKETING!!!!!

Maybe the moderators could give posting rights to the different gallries.

    Just a thought.

Well I think it will be missed in the galleries. I got a huge lift when I got my first series of stars it gave me more determination to get 5* and I tried harder work.
It is shame that it has been misused by one member because he could not take the time and patience to constructively help a member or members improve their drawing standards. That is bad and silly at the same time.

And how would one define a proffesional or an artist?
Would you define it by simplicity in the artwork?

Then do a google for Warhol,Haring,Appel or even Mondriaan and Picasso
They made art in the most simplistic way and made money of it
(though it looks like my two year old could have made it)

I have two relatives who make money of the art they make
the one is abstract painter who makes 10 paintings a month and sells them right away in a commercial way.

The other is a realistic painter which is more time consuming and sells a painting about every two months, only about the same price as the other with ten paintings and doesn't care about marketing or commercialism

JokeArtist made the comment that the forum created the image that Xara is a "useless piece of software only used by the hobbist truly talentless."

I don´t post often, probably because I´m one of those talentless hobbyists. That doesn´t bother me. What I take issue with is that there are a number of non-professionals who create brilliant art and effects with Xara. We see their work regularly and it is truly well done.

Constructive criticism is always welcome. We are here to encourage and help each other.
It is not a contest here to say who is professional, hobbyist or otherwise. The gallery is my favorite board to visit and I enjoy seeing everyones work on all levels. I encourage all users to post their work.

For what it's worth, Risto, I don't think an apology is required for use of the word "schoolgirl", it's hardly gratuitously offensive. It's a long time ago for me now, but attending a co-ed grammar school back in the 60s all the schoolgirls books and satchels were covered in stars and doodles of their favourite pop stars. I doubt that much has changed. "Schoolgirl" in the context used, was not only apt, but humourous to boot, which is more than can be said for JA's humourless response (post #7).

Bit of a disruptive influence in the classroom methinks.
