Hi Steve,
You are right... This is a bug. A bug that even effects 3.2. Reopening a saved file in Xpro 4 gives you arial as the default font. Opening the same file in 3.2 gives you Times new Roman as the default font.

It seems that they took out all the 'remembered' items in this new version. In the past, your last line width, fill color, transparency settings, and text settings (among others) would be remembered with a drawing, and you could just pick up where you left off when you reopened it. Now, none of these are remembered--a giant step backwards. I sure hope this is remedied.

Agreed, saved .xar's always seem to open with Arial as the default font. No matter what - On my system they do anyway. Only my standard template opens in Verdana (my default) and then not after being saved with a new file name. I too would be grateful if they fixed this.

According to Martin (the guy working the fonts section)
I found the Key underThis is not a bug nor is this behaviour new in 4.0, nor does anything in 4.0
affect 3.2. The current font (or, as you call it, the default font, but this
term is used for something else in Xara) is saved with the document in all
versions of Xtreme. There is a different in loading it though.
Xtreme 3.0 and below always load the current font, so when you start typing it
is in that font. It was decided to change this behaviour for the 3.2 release:
Now, the current font is only loaded from template documents, not from regular
documents. In 3.2, the current font after loading a document is always Times New
Roman, in 4.0 it is always Arial, no matter what was saved in the document.
Apart from chooisng a different font they behave the same.
You can revert to the pre 3.2 behaviour by setting the registry key
Filters\LoadCurrentAttributes
My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\XARA\XtremePro \4.0\Options\Filters
Just modify the value from 0 to 1

I wonder why "It was decided ......" to change this behavior. It seems to me that the previous behaviour was preferrable. It was decided to change this behaviour for the 3.2 release:

I agree. Especially since I rarely use either Arial or TNR.
Those just happen to be some of the windows default fonts and it is always safe to have a default font set. If I had draginet.TTF as my default font. the first time someone opened one of my .xar's they might have problems. This way is the safe path...
At least that is my guess and I am sticking with it...
