    Default XXV4 - XPE cropping

I'm still running the original trial release.

I have used the Xtreme to mock up a web page. I take a screen capture, go into XPE and crop out the Xtreme toolbars. Everything looks good.

When I leave XPE it looks as though the bitmap has been over-cropped - edges are missing.

If I click the bitmap again to go into XPE, XPE shows the bitmap as I originally cropped it. Oh dear!

    Perhaps someone can confirm this?

[Apologies for the thread name - it should be XXV4 - it's not a dig at Xara]

Paul - Try doing your cropping in V4's Photo tool not XPE.

I'm just double clicking a bitmap.

I know, but XPE is being phased out. AFAICT, they've put almost all the XPE tools in the new Photo tool. Cropping/clipping (whatever you want to call it) is one of them.

Plus, you don't need to doubleclick to work on the photo with the Photo tool.

I take your point, though if they include XPE via double-click, it should work properly. The cropping is wrong on return from XPE.

don't get it with the latest version Paul - that said I never used xpe except for levels occasionally - but the crop tool seems straight forward enough

Thanks Steve - I guess I should switch versions. Thanks for checking it out.

Yes the XPE cropper is definately screwed up - unlike V3.2 it returns a clipped image which is overcropped compared to the crop result screen when in the XPE editor window. Didn't know about eh CLIP function in the new camera bit - that works OK. IF it doesn't work in XPE should they remove it?

I heard XPE was going bye-bye. I seriously doubt anything will be fixed in XPE now, not worth the effort I would think. You can eliminate XPE from even running in the latest build I heard.

yes - if you select 'edit bitmaps with...' and leave box blank

whilst I was here I checked xpe in version 4.0.4966 [april 14] and now I see the crop problem - maybe I was just 'lucky' last time

but it would appear the photo tool clip is replacing it so I guess that's that...
