Xtreme 4 - layer gallery sluggish

This may not be restricted to XXV4 - could well be in previous versions.

I'm working on a file with ten layers or so and on one layer I have a lot of bitmaps. I use this layer as a kind of lightbox and copy bitmaps to other layers.

I've noticed that the user interaction - clicking and dragging has become really slow. Selecting tools has become painful.

I suspect it's because of all those bitmaps on the one layer, though that layer is invisible and not editable.

Are the bitmaps the reason, and if so, why should they affect Xtreme when they are invisible and uneditable. My PC has 2GB memory and windows peak memory image is way below 2GB.

I'll try deleting the 'lightbox' bitmaps and see if it helps.

Removing some images hasn't made much of a difference. There is a noticeable delay between selecting/deselecting visibility in the layer gallery. Clicking the layer checkbox has a delay of one to two seconds before the box is updated.
