picture blending

Hi

I have four pictures to be set side by side as per attached file.

I want to in some way blend all the pictures so the transition accrss the borders is gradual.

I've tried transparency gradient between the images and placing white rectangles with a fractal cloud transprancy but to be blunt they all look grim.

Has anyone a better idea or am I flogging the proverbial dead horse?

Feather the edges and overlap them so they blend more.

Well first off, your images are not wide enough to use for blending and retain the overall width for your header.

Any how, yes linear transparency works well for this, but there are a couple of tricks I use.

[1] To get graduated transparency along both left and right edges of images bordered by other images, you apply a linear trans' to one edge then 'GROUP' that ONE images to itself. This then allows you to apply a linear trans' to the other edge.

[2] Once you have done this and positioned all images together, they will look a little faded. To over come this. Group them all then clone (ctrl+K) a couple copies ontop. This will bring saturation and contrast back to the group.

Thanks one and all just the effect I needed. Didn't know you could group on one item.

Thats an option I'll use a lot!. Manys the time I've wanted to add an effect to two edges only
