Not sure what you intend us to see, Bob. However, the result wasn't what I expected.

Hi Keith, I just thought that the resultant texture was very interesting,
especially as the object had only been enlarged by 200%.
It looked very much like leather.
This bump map tool operates a little differently than the one in V.3 of XXP,
and the combination of it and the extrude tool produces unique results.
    Saludos,
    Bob.

    Hi Bob

I've played with the bump map filter before but was never too impressed with my results. But you got me playing with it again and actually, modifying what you have done a bit I can see a possible potential for creating water. I drew a map on my site way back then and the way I created nice water was by using a photo of real water as an inlay. Maybe someday I will modify it since there have been a few changes, and I will keep this in mind as a potiental tool.

    Thanks...........frank

On the way, found the light settings made a neat planet-in-shadow effect, or edge-of-planet-through-a-porthole effect

Couldn't get your settings though Will persevere.

    Excuse the digression

Ok, I got a result that looked like ..... yeah, leather is probably the nearest description that fits. As I said it wasn't what I was expecting. I was expecting the texture to get rougher not smoother.

This is what I ended up with, Keith,
from your description, I expect yours
    was quite similar.
There doesn't seem to be precise control
over the results with the extrude tool.
Especially the lighting tools, they don't do what
I would expect them too, but that could easily be me!
    Saludos,
    Bob.
