Error saving presets in Art Filter > Painting plug-in

No it's me who's asleep. It's 3AM here. I meant user name, sorry.

ok - now I am awake

1) the presets are saved to the folder the image came from if it is an imported image

2) if it is not an imported image but a new drawing it is saved as Roberts post

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Xara\Xara Xtreme 4\default\

3) if you move the presets to:

C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Xara\XaraXtreme\4.0\PCFx\fx\art_presets\

they appear in the preset menu


This is my experience - the confusion was over loaded image as opposed to new drawing I think

Good catch Steve! Now I understand what you and Hans were saying.

In any event this behavior is also not useful, for you have to do the same manual move in order to use the preset.

Anyway that should be enough info for the programmers to fix. Thanks for your help!

So you guys have the new preset appear in the list?
If i create a new preset it doesn't show,not even after coping the "presetfile" to the default(artpresets) folder.
If I want to do it in the same session, i could just use paste attributes.
Maybe someone at Xara could shed a light on this?

Hi Hans,

Yes, when I place the preset in the:

C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\Xara\XaraXtreme\4.0\PCFx\fx\art_presets\

folder, close the plug-in, then fire it up again, the new preset appears in the list. I've created 6 so far and they all work fine.

Oh and be sure to change "HP_Owner" with your user login name. (Just go to the C:\Documents and Settings\ directory and select your login name sub-directory)

Hans are you copying it to the same path ?

I only get a default folder in applicationdata\xaraxtremepro4\
I copied myplug into:
C:\Program Files\Xara\Xara Xtreme Pro 4\PCFx\default\fx\art_presets

Both don't work

Windows Vista users will find their saved art presets are shunted off to:

C:\ProgramData\Xara\Xara Xtreme Pro 4\default
