I used it here on text area with a repelling blend object and it works great and very precisely.
However you see that greyed text outside the text area also carries shadows. Not a big problem anyways.
kindly,
ivan

HI Ivan
Agreed
Turns a line drawing into - well something different

Nice to deform 3D objects too !
They can also give some humorous effects.

Funny effects ;-)
Womag, did you notice that brain decreases while muscles increase ? Is that intentional ?

Ivan,
Interesting side effect, but totally unintentional.

the heading of this thread is wrong [sorry ivan] - the deformation filter is not great - its bl&*%y marvellous - at least for line art
consider - you can take a line drawing, and reshape it
ok the vector is now an effect - so all you can really do with the new shape is apply gradient color transparency - you cannot do boolean or other complex operations because that operates on the underlying original vector shape
however
if you make sure that your live effects are set to 300dpi xara bitmap tracer will quite happily convert it to vector in the new shape
so we have a new vector drawing tool : 'sculpt'- I love it
now familiar with the settings I reckon it is very very good indeed and was well worth waiting for thanks xara

This functionality has been in Xara since 3.2 via the immediately disowned Magix pixel editor. This is actually the closest you can get to pixel editing in Xara at the moment. It's really cool.
I have to say actually, repelling liquid-painted text in real time is gorgeously amazing.
