Ah no offence, but I prefer to worry about what the drawing looks like

BTW: I know about comic books too - they are my business in part - they are not badly drawn or ugly, the ones that are worth reading - far from it [helps though if you can read French]

Anyway I hope you get the zoom option sorted since it is causing you difficulty

btw - the font menu is redone nicely - but it would be even cooler if the main family name was in the menu and the variations in the fly-out-menu as shown in the illustrator screen shot.

    notice the clean interface :b

s'ok - I draw the stuff, among other things

I know what you mean about the interface - it just doesn't bother me - I rather like it the way it is, unobtrusive - guess it's what you are used to?

Please stay on topic regarding the zoom behaviour..
If you'd like to start a new thread regarding your thoughts on the Xtreme UI and new live font menu, please do so.

Also, try to keep image attachment pixel sizes down to an absolute maximum of 800px wide. We have many users on slower connections.

    Cheers

    ok sorry for going off-topic.

back on-topic. a question for charles: would it be possible to alter the zoom redraw behaviour by registry or hopefully by an option setting?

This is the same answer I gave elsewhere. It's a result of caching groups that was added in 3.2, which makes first time redraw slower under some circumstances, but speeds up a lot of other rendering operations.

Options -> Tune Ups. Turn off caching.

    thx for your reply charles.

maybe somethins wrong with my machine. just been playing with the tune up box values. it's the same.

i can run x4 and x3.02 at the same time with the same file and can see the difference very clearly.

zooming from 100 to 1000 percent takes about three times longer because on each mouse-wheel tick the whole grafic regenerates.

in 3.02 i see some white flickering and once i stop wheeling the grafic regenerates.

surely the visual zooming control is better in x4 but with really complex drawings it's annoyingly laggy.

if i wheel in a few ticks and while it zooms wheel back out it draws all the zoom in stages and then 2 or 3 zoom out stages.

    makes it feel slow.

sorry for such a nasty lenghty discussion. it's just that xara is a lot about speed and it's my all time favourite app.

    bb,

    FLy
