Lost Xara Icons

The file icon for Xara is missing now, since I installed the update. Anyone know how I can get it back?

Ron I'm not sure if you are missing the icon from your desktop or if you are missing the icon when viewing a list of .xar files in Windows Explorer.

Hi,
you Mean from the deesktop screen?
Right-click>new shortcut..then brouse to XaraXtreme4 folder and look for the XaraXreme exe file..selct it and continue..

When you open Xtreme are you seeing the message about .xar files are not associated with... which ever version you opened?

When I search through Windows Explorere or go to open a Xara file from Xara, I don't see the Xara icon anymore. Instead there is the generic icon from windows.

But I do get a message that bold/italic variant is no longer supported by Xara. It's referring to a font I created myself some time ago.

If you are running XP you can hold down a shift key when you right click one of the generic icons for a .xar file. You will see Open with... on the popup list. Select that and then select the version of Xtreme you want to be the default. The icon should show up in Windows Explorer again.

Ron if Bills tip doesn't help, try this:
Download Microsofts TweakUI powertoy and Rebuild the Icon Cache.

Click the "Repair" link, then in the right pane of Tweak UI, click on the pull-down and choose "Rebuild Icons". Click "Repair Now", then "OK" to close the dialog box.

Bill and Steve,
I've tried both and still no Xara icons. Also, I just noticed that the thumbnails don't appear in Explorer either when I choose it.
