    Thanks David.
    On playing from your original green background graphic and with Sledger's examples it gave me the idea (although I recognise it to be very limited) to first apply the stanglass and then do a quick cutout of the original, add a little feather and place that on top of the stainglass one. I know this is rough but often I need something not so precise but definitely with a transparent background.
    David your last example was excellent.
    I thank you all for giving examples which inspire others to think how to do it and thus increase the working knowledge of Xara.

    Here is the file in relation to my precious post.
    Why do it this way?
    Having the stainglass eleminates the need for a accurate and precise cutout (I didn't labour on the cutout!). The cutout adds the solid piece.
    Well, I did say it was limited!

    If you are going to take that much time for the cutout, you really don't need the stained glass copy underneath (although it means an additional few seconds to add the strap holes to the cutout). That is basically the method John (raynerj1) was recommending. I did it my way because it is a bit quicker, not requiring the precision.
