Default Xara .eps to Illustartor 8 confirm

Occaisionally I need to save an Xara file to be opened on Illustartor 8. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

The files are simple .eps files with no transparencies or gradients etc.
I only have access to XXPro and Inkscape.

Is there a way I can check whether it should work or not before I waste time sending it?

    Thanks

    Anas

... you can download a free trial of illstrator here:

hint: convert all text before exporting from xara to illustrator.

Pdf export works better than eps in my experience.

Anas I do this often for files to be opened in Signlab, CoredlDraw and Illustrator.

If the designs are simple solid (spot) colours without any effects at all, I use: Adobe Illustrator *.ai ;*.eps
    No probelms encountered so far.

PDF works fine for CoreDraw *most of the time* - also Illustrator.
However for my work, .ai is generally the better choice.

Anas have you thought of looking on ebay for a low cost older version of Illustrator?

You could test each file before sending to your client.

    Thanks guys.

I had a look on Ebay, I've never seen so many ways to sell Inkscape.

People are actually selling a freeware application on ebay?

Isn't there an old saying about "buyer beware"?

They aren't selling Inkscape - they're selling the downloading & burning service plus the media (blank disc). The software is still free.

Of course, I say this with tongue (firmly)-in-cheek, though when I worked in a computer shop before the days of ADSL, the boss would get me to burn copies of AVG Free so he could sell them to customers for $5 do save them downloading a 4mb setup file. He told them they were buying the CD and not the software.
Although this had an amount of truth in it, he wasn't being entirely honest because what he didn't tell them was that once installed, they would need to download the latest .def update file which was often 2-3mb (or more when the core program needed updating too)!
