Eobet, again this is the correct behaviour. That's that way postscript mitre joins behave. The sharper the angle, the more the protrusion. If you don't want protrusions on sharp joins, use round and bevelled joins - that's why they are there.

That is not what I meant. I meant that the entire line was affected, not just the joint, as perhaps this picture demonstrates more clearly:
