    Default Red Eye Help

    Hi there,

I'm quite new to using photoshop cs3, and have found my way around most of the features, but I have a lot of trouble removing red eye from pictures.

Can anyone offer some advice or useful hints or tips to get me on my way to red-eye free photos?

    Thanks very much,

    Ian

As you probably know there's a red eye removal tool in PS CS3, and you have probably found it under the healing brush tools as well (if not, press the small black corner on the healing brush button in the tool box).

After you have selected the red eye healing brush you can either a) click on a red eye, or b) drag a frame around the red eye, and that's it.

Note: If the eyes on a photo are very small or if they are too bright (=almost burned out instead of red) it will not work very well. Also, it doesn't work on animal eyes (because they are usually not red, and also too bright).

    Hope this helps,
    Paul

This may be fixed by selecting and darkening pupils (e.g. with Brightness/Contrast)

when using the red eye tool select a larger area than you think is right this often works better than just sellecting the red part only.
