I've looked for the answer to this and haven't found anything, so sorry if it's been covered.

I'm confused about the difference between the CD version and the Boxed version of X1.

The purchase page at Xara says the following:
quote:
CD version: Instant unlock of trial. CD jewel case (no manual).
Boxed version: Instant unlock of trial. Includes tutorials & PDF manual.

which I can only interpret as saying that there's a manual in PDF format on the CD only if you buy the Boxed version, otherwise you get no manual at all?? Which seems crazy. Surely the point of the Box is that there is Paper inside... a printed manual. If not, what's the point? I'm really bewildered about this.

And as for the tutorials, What's on the Xara X CD says:
quote:
More than 60 tutorial movies

(and makes no mention of a manual). Again, confusion... are the tutorials on both CDs or (as the earlier quote implies) only the Boxed version?

    Clarification would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks...

Xara X was two CDS. I would imagine the "Boxed" Version will be well worth it, besides the collectors edition box. If xara charges a marked difference between one product and the next, there has always been enough value to warrent the difference in my experience.

Unlike Microsoft, or any of the other software houses, where you wonder if you just paid a hefty chunk of change for a "new" label on the old box.

The boxed version comes in an attractive box :-) and also contains a disc of 8 years worth of Xara Xone tutorials, the WebXealots which contain details on each tool plus an illustrated on-line manual. All of the material on THE DISC (the tutorials, etc.) is in PDF format for easy viewing and printing.

The disc comes in a jewel case. If you are familiar with Xara and don't need the tutorials, etc. then just get the un-boxed version.

The boxed version will also have a shiny new keyboard shortcut card.

Shiny... shiny... *waves shiny thing at Xara X users*

I'd start a revolution, if I could get up in the morning.

    Thank you Gary and AntonyF!

RAMWolff... not directly, but perhaps indirectly http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif I appropriated it from a character mentioned in the manual for my favourite PC game (still, after 10 years) "System Shock". I never read the X-Men comics, but I rather suspect that maybe one of the team at Looking Glass Technologies was a fan!

Oooo, a shiny keyboard shortcut card. My luck it'll be so darned shiny the sun coming in the window will reflect off of it and I won't be able to read a darned thing!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Shadowcat: Interesting. Yea, maybe so, fans all over the world. Shadowcat has a very cool power. She can phase through anything and if she's got ahold of you, you phase with her. THAT can be a dangerous power.. dropping in on folks when they are......... you know what I mean?? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif She made a brief appearance in both X Movies! According to sources the 3rd movie is now in production and I think they are going to be using "Kitty" a little more, I hope!! She's one of the really complex characters in the book. If you do end up reading any X-Men comics pick up the compilation "The Phoenix Saga", really good stuff there!!
