export xara image

how can i export a picture with the background to be transparent? i tried exporting into png file and then in the options i selcted transparent but when i copy to the document, it comes with white background

During PNG export ensure that True Color + Alpha is selected.
However, inspite of this - the application which is opening your Xara exported PNG must support PNG alpha transparency. If it doesn't, well it doesn't.
If 256 colours are enough for your graphic, try using the .gif file type instead.
