Okay, I'll bite. What's with this eruptive palava to Moir's Xara Picture Editor logo competition? Over 3,000 views and 150 contributions in less than a week...

It's not like he's offering the whole Xara store to the winner...

But I do like some of the artwork tho'. Underscore the difficulty in trying to sum up an application's capabilties in a bit of abstract but eye-cathcing artwork.

--- I'll bite too... How about just having fun, and a great community spirit? Nothing evil in that - is there? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/eek.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

No, but the opportunity is being offered to see how creative we can be. And as Risto so aptly put it, Nohting evil in that. Eh?

From that last syllable, it looks as though Risto's Canadian-ness is starting to rub off on you, eh? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/eek.gif

It's nice to see such an example of continuous self-improvement. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

That logo competition was fun. It was kinda like school again.

I hope we have more competition in these threads in the future. More in the spirit of self improvement rather than oneupsmanship.

I have a comment on this subject.

If the reason for everyone's involvement really is to have fun, and release artistic expressiveness, then why when others in the past have asked for logo "ideas", are they met with a "do it yourself" attitude by so many.

Granted there are those that will take a logo submission and add comments and a variation or two, but seldom is the call for NON PROFIT creativity so well received.

I understand that people would not want to spend too much of their precious time doing work for someone else to profit from, but this is happening here as well. Like it of not, there are many submissions that have OBVIOUSLY borrowed from those before it. And guess what. Only one person will "win" this competition.

So if everyone REALLY wants another competition, why wait for a bounty to spark your creativity and interest.

I am trying to come up with a Logo for the soccer club of which I am President. I will not profit from this venture. So if you truly want to exercise your creativity. Here are some details.

    Team name: Cataraqui Soccer Club
    Colours: Blue, Black and White
    Established: 1976
A soccer ball and the Maple Leaf (Canadian, eh?!) should be incorporated as well.

I would love to see what others may come up with.

    Cheers,
    James
