    Default background deja vous...

Hi - I need to make the white background of several images transparent. I can do this with RealDraw and Paintshop Pro. I haven't found a way to do it with Xtreme Pro.

I know about the cutting away method and have used it. Not perfect, but it's OK.

But when an image is fairly intricate, I just don't have the patience to do it this way. Is there a plug-in that will simply take a given color and render it GONE?

    Thanks.

    Regards,
    Bal

    Hi.
    Solution in drawing below,
or you can go to this link on this forum
to download Mac's Remove White filter.
Works well with Xara Live Effects.
    Saludos,
    Bob.

Set PaintShopPro as your image editor in Xara's options (Effects and Plugins tab).

Steve, this question must be jockeying for the number one position
as the most asked question on the xtreme forum, how about a sticky
thread in the manner of the "making a bitmap logo spin" thread on the xara 3D forum?
I've updated my image in post #2 if you want to use that.

Perhaps a way of putting a list of the top 100 (say) answers to the top 100 FAQs
asked could be posted prominently somewhere? A lot of work probably in the short term,
    but with long-term benefits.
    Saludos,
    Bob.

    Use Mehdi Eraser Classic.

    1. Select the bitmap
    2. Select the Live Effect Tool (Ctrl F5)
    3. Press New > (top of the page) Select Mehdi > Eraser Classic
    4. If necessary, use the eyedropper tool to designate the background color
Piece of of cake. I added a drop shadow so you can see the opaque and transparent.

Everyone - thanks for all the help.

Gary - yours is my favorite answer. Works like a charm, just as you said. I needed to figure out the Medhi settings, but once done very easy.

Thanks so much. And Merry Christmas (and/or whatever floats your boat).

    Regards,
    Bal
