    Default Save me! After mirroring!

Hi masters! Please save me! I've read many tutorials on the internet tell using mirror when you are going to create two symmetrical objects. But I find after mirroring I can't attach one to the other, how can I connect and edit them together then? Thanks in advance!

    Ok - here's the thing -
when you use mirror -it seems you are not creating a copy!
    - but instead you most likely have created an 'instance' - (look up 'instance' in the help to understand what it is.)

    - to make your 'instance' a plain old 'copy', convert it to an editable mesh - or go to the modify tab on the right, you'll see a small icon there under where it shows which modifiers are applied to the object.

the icon looks like a small circle with 2 arrows pointing at it - on rollover it says ' make unique ' - that's the puppy you need - click it and now you will be able to attach it to the original model.

tip: with mirrored objects always select the original one first and attach the mirrored version to it - that way you will avoid any wierd issues with normals showing inside out when you come to do more complex things.
