Default "butt registration" for screen print illustration

    Hello all.
I'm working on an illustration for screen printing. The printer's guidelines request "butt registration," which I believe I understand (vs. the "trapping" I've always done?) I'm working in Xara Xtreme Pro... I found no tips in Xara Help. Do I assume I have to manually align the sections of artwork or can someone share some helpful instructions with me?

    thanks very much.

    Hello Helen

I am not sure I understand the question. But I think you are talking about is removing the color under an object.

In the attached, the top two images show a circle over a solid background. If you printed this as a screen print, the green circle would over print the red square. If the inks were semi-transparent or transparent, the color would be muddy.

In the bottom two images, the circle is dropped out of the red square. So if you were printing on white paper and the inks were transparent or semi, the colors would be saturated and not muddy.

Is this what you are asking?

Well, of course. EXACTLY! My drawing has so many little points and crevices I cowered at the thought of aligning them all. Didn't occur to me to cut it out! (Duh!) I can do that! Bless Xara! Thanks so much
