    Default Does Xara Stamp?

Inkscape has a facility called stamping. This is where an element or group is selected and the cursor is moved around the canvas. Whenever the "Enter" key is hit a copy of the group is laid down (stamped). This enables an area to be quickly filled. Do we have a similar function in Xara?

Note this is not the same as a brush although similar. And it is not the same as a tiled pattern.
It is also not the same as a Ctrl D followed by movement of the element. Such a procedure would take for ever.

It not only enables an area to be filled quickly but it also has a randomness that takes away the artificial look of a pattern. It also enables a vector pdf to be generated of the laid down elements.

OK. Don't worry about that last question. I searched a bit further and yes Xara does do that. It is done in the same way as described for Inkscape except that the + symbol on the numeric keyboard is used.

Yes, though I find that a little bit awkward.

If you are using version 3.2 you can drag with the right mouse button and when you release the right mouse button, a duplicate is dropped. The object is still selected so you can drag and drop to your heart's content.

Sledger is correct. Once you get used to drag and drop its easy. It just takes getting used to. Like everything in life.

Here are a few more tips.

Bill Taylor's method is great for mirroring an object. Drag the Center of Rotation bullseye to where you want the half way point to be, Clone the selection and press the Flip Horizontally icon. You can do the same thing with vertical mirroring.

Oddly, however, I either never knew, or have long forgotten the + key thing.

You can still use the older method even with 3.2... drag with the left and right click - drop a copy... keep dragging and right clicking to create as many 'stamps' as you like.
