I'll go along with Garry's 'thoughts' on over thinking.

Also his sepia sample is very close to what WIKI say's about Sepia

    A shade of brown (Hex: #704212) (RGB: 112, 66, 18)
A rich brown pigment derived from the ink sac of the common cuttlefish

Still, look at all the fun had with variations on a theme..

    Sledger,

I just found a sepia image on the web and measured the Hue in XXP. The Hue was about 16. Gary's Hue is about 40. I looked at dozens of natural sepias and most were closer to the red hue. I would more likely use something in the 10 to 30 range.

So what color is chrome. Maybe a silver color. Maybe not since silver is green. Chrome is a very dark blue. It depends on how you view things.

Gary was talking about adding more depth to the colors. I would think this is monochromatic.

You can recolor light and have the black pixels remain. Depends on your preference.

I do think bitmap transparency is a very useful Xara feature. I never see anyone using it, however.

Just my view of things. Gary, thanks for teaching me about Hue.

Hiya Rich. I see you are still exploring posibilities. Endless are they not? Nice to see you. Not around so much any more it seems. Too much these days in 3D DAZ Studio and doing that sort of work. Sepia is one of my favorites when using Monochrome coloring options. Love Love Love it!!

I like the effect as always Rich - just playing about here - could do this for a long time

On subject of sepia - to me 'sepia the color' and 'sepia the effect' are two completely different things..... but then, I'm an artist not a photographer , and inhabit a world where horses play piano and ducks the saxaphone...

Nah--it is simply looking at things through a different light, it isn't 'overthinking.'

The more ways you look at something, the greater the possibilities of creating things that hadn't been created before. Rich's method may lead to something that is not possible with Gary's method.

    Thanks Richard,

An example of a linear filled object made bitmap transparent, and placed over a filled background.

    Just another approach.

I just was looking at a book today that is filled with sepia photographs. Each one is different. Some are almost red and others almost green. So I suspect that true sepia is in the eye of the beholder.
