Hi is it possible to create a halftone effect on a shape in xara?

A search brought up this thread.
I would also add that their are quite a few PS filters that do that and if you can find one which is compatible with PS 7 you could use it in conjunction with the Live Effects tool.
Design is thinking made visual.
STEP 1
Convert bitmap image with a white box on top (same size as bitmap) and apply contrast transparency. Select these 2 images and 'create a bitmap copy', 'true colour'.
STEP 2
Convert another copy of the original image to a reduced black and white copy by 'create a bitmap copy', '2 colours' no transparency.
STEP 3
Place Step 2 bitmap copy on top of the first and apply bleach transparency.
STEP 4
You can apply Step 2 placing it onto the original bitmap.
That's damned clever Salaam. Never used half-tones but I like the workaround!

Agreed!
have a look at this method: http://www.layersmagazine.com/halftone-background.html
You could use this method in Xtreme along with "ClipView" from the Arrange menu and maybe subtract shape as well.

It should be the opposite Peter. The dots should contain the image and the background should be white.
The problem with the 2-color bitmap fill is the size of the dots is a digital thing and based on shapes and things to create the dot. A real halftone is made by screening a black and white image though a screen that produces round, elliptical, or square dots that are larger or smaller as required.
There is a lot of information on this that you can Google such as this page.

One black dot on a white background use for bitmap transparency.

Using Rich's idea.. you can create a very realistic halftone... The size of the dot in relation to the white square and the position of the blackdot on the white square... think about it... It'll work and give you a perfect halftone...
The problem is figureing out the size/position of the black dot on the white square. Gary and some of the other halftone printers could probably supply that data. We could create a few common halftones and put them in the shareware page...
At least it's a good xaraxone advanced tut...
