    Default text on curve

    Hi

    yet another senior moment!

created a curve using the freehand tool and then used the text tool to type on the line.

Ok when I tried to select the line to either delete it or make it no colour I seem to select a "group" of both the line and the text.

    Sure I've done this before

    any ideas?

    thanks

    Ian

Sort of found a solution - changed the line colour to nothing and then increased the font to allow the fill to make up the lost stroke area?

Not sure if it's thje best way to do it but it works!

You have to do this with Ctrl pressed and selecting only line

In Xara you never has option to delete line and your text ramain fited on some qurve, the only way to do this is to convert text to shapes, then you can delete line...

If you want to select only text, get text tool (F8) Click over text, then press F2, now you have selected only text and you can change its properties....

Im sure that this work in this way from the times of Corel Xara....

At that point, all you have to do is select the freehand brush tool, and changes made after that only affect the line.

Instruction available, Ian, in XaraXremePro Help file "Hiding the line in text on a curve"

To hide the line in text on a curve
    1. Select the text object on the curve.
    2. Choose the Shape Editor Tool. This selects just the line or shape.
    3. Shift-click (or right-click) on the No color button on the Color Line.

My comment: This method leaves the text fully editable.

    Cheers, Anders

    [1] Select line + text
    [2] Convert to Editable Shapes
    [3] Ungroup
[4] Pull line away and delete

Caveat: Make sure your text spelling it right first
