    Default creating a distressed look

I am wondering what the best way to create a "distressed" layer on something is. Can I create this effect in CorelDraw (I have v.12) or do I need to work on that in PhotoPaint?

I'm not sure how to create it in either program. I've tried, using the eraser in Draw, but it looked icky...

    Many Thanks!

Could you give an example of the effect you're after kar-po?

    How about a distressed fish?

    sure thing Egg.

I like how this paper looks aged, stained. I guess it's not really distressed.

It is really hard to get that distressed look out of vector art. I usually use Photoshop or Photopaint to achieve this type of look. Illustrator actually has
a bunch of brush libraries that have this type of this faux style. Basically
what you would do is make 2 layers of the two various colors and use a
faux style brush at like 20% opacity and manually erase certain sections of
the top layer exposing the bottom layer. I use varying degrees of opacity to
give it a more random look. I would almost guarantee the image you are showing
was done in Photoshop. Hope this helps.
