My vote would be to have it both ways. Small file size is vary important as is transparency.

Importing "standard" transparent gifs is nice and exporting to vary small annimated gifs is also great.

Having it both ways (user chooses) is the best from what I can see.

Again... my vote is for both ways.

If I have to sacrifice transparency to get smaller file sizes then that is fine when I need that.

If I have to have trasparency and by choosing this option I sacrifice file size then that is fine also.

I just want to be able to choose on a case by case basis.

Never cross out an existing possibility.

Transparency is essential for web design. So are small file sizes. The software should offer all possibilities. The user should be able to make a desicion which way he/she prefers.

Taking existing features out is a wrong way to go.

In a perfect world, I'd love the option to select either/or during export. However, if I had to select just one, I'd vote for keeping the transparency at the expense of file size.

Let me get it clear
I prefer both possibilities, but if that is impossible I would opt out the new possibility.

In other words I prefer to keep the transparency from Xara 2.

I just deleted my Xara2 for space on my laptop. Now I realize I can't get transparent GIF's-- looks like I'll have to reinstall 2. Oh well, I think a choice would be better. JWL

JWL,

Xara X does export static transparent GIFS.
Up until now Xara X hasn't exported animated transparent GIFS.
