Default Re: Text underline in XARA

To follow Gary's comments about the time of year, I still think that people who want to underline are limiting themselves in the way of design. Use Word to print your docs. Chris thinks that Word 2007 is the "bees knees" of a programme and if it would let me I would agree. To go off topic there are other things much more important than hitting "ctrl+U" to get the effect that I want. I would say brushes are more important than underlining. I hate to say grow up to fellow users but when you can quite easily underline an piece of text but can't change the colour of a brush that you have developed? no you need to jump through hoops to do that. Let's not give the wrong message to Charles there are lots more important things to change in Xara than auto underline and it is so uncool to use such an animal.

    Design is thinking made visual.

What we think (the vocal users) doesn't matter. Charles and crew have a full list of priorities... I would not put it at number one, but I wouldn't put it on the roundtoit list either.

Exactly. You've given an argument that is valid for all users who think certain features of Xara are useless: those who think underlining is useless, those who think LiveEffects is useless, those who think the navbar tool is useless, and so on and so forth.
Point is, a substantial proportion of users has to find something useful before it is added (assuming the feature request is reasonable etc.). Those who still think it's useless can do whatever they like with it.
As a side note: I said "a substantial proportion" and not "a majority", because I can't see how Xara can get requests from so many users who have bought their products in the past (CorelXara, Xara X, X1, Xtreme etc.) so that this number amounts to a majority. Frankly, I've seen some features added in the past to new Xara versions of which I thought Like how many people have asked for this?? 3 or 4?

You can also quite easily make text bold with the stroke width or contour tool; and you can quite easily italisize text with skewing. Are you gonna argue those 2 buttons should be omitted in future versions as well?
