Create the puzzle pieces in Xtreme as solid shapes and one color only. Then copy and paste the puzzle piece or pieces into Xara 3D where you can rotate them, add a bevel, depth, and lighting.

A slightly more complex way would be to import or paste each puzzle piece into Xara 3D and then treat each piece as text. You can adjust the kerning space (the space between the characters or in this case the puzzle pieces), and the line spacing, to make the puzzle pieces fit together. Once all the pieces are in place, then you can start free rotating them.

X-Newbie ~ It's probably best if you tell us what software you've got? Xara3d? Xara X or Xtreme, Webster? As Gary says you may need Xtreme or Webster to export the puzzle piece. If you haven't got either then I could supply the pieces in EMF format.

You make the shape in Xara, then import or even drag em from xara to X3D.
X3D is designed to be a 3d for text... but any "shape" can be a character... Thus you can do much more with it... See the X3D forum for more info and some great examples.

I was wondering as to how you could achieve different colors for each of the puzzle pieces... Can you please help me out?

Here's my attempt using X3D and XXP combined.

Also can I ask which program was used to make this effect?

Not being the artist, I would imagine Egg used xtreme pro, X3D and Flash. He is very talented in all 3 programs.

Oh.. Thank you... As for the colors, I got it... There was a text selectot tool in X3D which I never knew at all...
