    Default Image wrap

I am sure I have seen a tutorial somewhere for this but I cannot find it.

What I am trying to do is have a curved shape, like a can and wrap a rectangular image onto the shape like a can label. All I have achieved is filling the shape, which does not add the wrapping perspective to the image.

Are you using a bitmap? Unfortunately the envelope won't deform a bitmap in this way (don't know why), so you must start with a vector image before distortion. Try passing it through the bitmap tracer first and then warping it.

You might look at Page Curl 2.2. there is an earlier demo in Extreme. There are examples in their gallery. www.avbros.com

E3 has image warp as well.

Here is an approach which involves using a another application with Xara.

I applied a bitmap as a texture map to a 3D-can I created in GoogleSketchUp Free. This example was very easy to do.

That looks great JC how did you do it?

I have sketchupfree, but don't know how to wrap textures that smoothly.

Thank you for the help, especially the example from JC. I will have to give it a go when I get home from work.

Check out the video tutorials here:
    http://sketchup.google.com/gsu5vtvideos.html

Then the click on the link for the "Using images as signs" movie. At the end of the movie there is an example of painting stripes onto a barber pole.

MMW, it is smooth because the circle the cylinder was extruded from is comprised of 72 segments.
