I don't know what I did to my program

Well, I did it again. But I don't know what I did to do what it does.


This is what happened.

When I opened Xara today I changed the page setting to US letter. Then imported an image. Then opened a new layer.

Now as I try to use any drawing function.. and I mean any... It only moves the paper around when I try do do any function.

I don't know if this will make any sense to you, but I hope it does. I want to get that little hand off my screen and get some work done.

The hand is the push tool - do you mean you are stuck in this tool and cannot switch to another? Thats weird You havent got a faulty mouse have you - middle button stuck? - just a thought...

No, I've tried using my tablet and my mouse. It just stays that way.

I tried closing xara and restarting. NO luck.

mouse and keyboard working fine then, and other programs ok? - beats me, never experienced that problem with xara - possible its tablet/mouse drivers, but I'd expect problems elsewhere too if that were the case..... ??

It's weird, I have had that happen to me also in an older release, X or X1 (can't remember if was a Beta or not). It was like it was getting "locked in" on the Push Tool. However, it was always solved by restarting the program.

Also, I was also often able to "release" by double-clicking (or double-tapping with the Wacom) really quickly on the paper --- tried if it was released --- and tapped again.

Not sure if it's the same kind of problem or not. I'm also not sure if it's a Xara issue or a mouse/tablet thing. If this was prevalent, I'm sure we would see a lot of people reporting this?

However, if worse comes to worst --- re-install the program. It's not all that big of a deal with a slim piece of software like Xara. If that doesn't solve the problem --- look to you mouse/tablet sw/drivers etc.

Just an off chance, but I had ClickLock come on for me once in the past and it took a while to track it down.

This is for XP, but it's probably nearly the same for any Windows - try going to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Mouse and see on the Buttons tab if ClickLock is checked.

Failing that, same area (Control Panel), Accessibility, and see if anything has been made active there.

Oh, and check Xara Utilities > Options on the Mouse tab to see if any of the mouse buttons are set to Push Tool...

Thanks for all of the advice, but nothing has worked so far. I think I'll just have to reinstall and see if that takes care of the problem.

if not look at re-installing your tablet software and, if you have wifi mouse/keyboard, that as well - good luck!
