Does Xara make critical patches to products?

Hello guys,

I have XaraXtreme 2.0f and the application crashes a lot lately. Usually it happens when I have objects touched with a Mould Tool or Live Effects (at least I guess so). It tells about "Access violation exception" and quits that is rather irritating because now I have to save my drawing after every other step not to lose it.

I heard in new versions there is a feature that lets save your work before everything lost, but is it possible to have some critical fixes for current products without buying a new version?

Although it says to me "nothing to be updated", so I think I just should wait for some other patch...

Maybe you can reinstall Xtreme? Sometimes some new program can change the settings and cause problems.

If you do reinstall, copy any custom templates and custom brushes, and any Photoshop plug-in filters to another file first. Then you can paste them back into the correct folders. Do a complete uninstall first. Then reinstall.

I love your animated self-portrait on your website. With the animated Homer Simpson on the T-shirt.

And your animated icons are excellent.

the problem persisted before, as well, but I just did not use those particular tools very often in complex pictures.
And I don't even use custom templates or brushes or Photoshop plug-ins, just Enhance effect, but still it crashes

Ok, will save drawings more often

There was a big hoo-haa about Xara and patches recently. The conclusion was that it is impractical for most bugs to be fixed and released as separate patches, owing to complex involvement with newer code etc etc. Patches are released to address major bugs in a new release though - as we're seeing with 3.2.1, and 3.2.2 updates (and probably a 3.2.3 for the CD print). I'd save up and upgrade. The new error handling in version 3.0 was an under-appreciated godsend.
