    Default Borderless printing on Inkjet

Hi - does anybody have any experience on the best way to print from Xara (Xtreme Pro 3.2) to a inkjet printer that can print to the edges of 6in x 4in paper?

As far as I can see the printer driver enlarges the image it gets sent in order to print to the edge, so the first thing I was about to try was to print out some kind of grid, map that back to what actually gets printed and then scale documents at the last minute. Maybe I could make a new unit: minches so that the document could still be 4x6.

However, before doing that it occurred to me to check if there was some better way, maybe involving Xara's professional features. If it makes any difference the printer is a Canon Pixma M600.

    Regards

I have a similar printer and while I don't have any clever XXP tricks, I have printed as you describe with it. Selecting borderless printing from a standard app does as you suggest and enlarges the print job, but I *think* that the photo printing program that is installed with the printer driver prints without enlarging if the dimensions of your print job match the paper size. I have created 6x4" JPEGs at 600dpi in the past and printed them as 'photos' using that software without losing the edges.

    Lee,

Have you tried making your Xtreme page size 6" x 4", then select your printer from the printer properties dialogue box, then Show Print Borders.

If your printer is capable of printing right to the borders then Xtremes Show Print borders should show at the extremity of the page as well.

I have a Canon S9000 and it does boderless printing and yes I get the message from the driver saying, "That it may increase the image". When you set up your page size to print a 6" x 4" it prints it no problem right out to the edge with no enlargement of the photo and the quality is excellent.

    Thanks for the help guys.

There was a setting when you choose "borderless printing" in my printer driver, to choose the amount of enlargement. I set that to the very minimum, and my 4x6 inch page was enlarged when printing to something like 100.2% (using best fit), pretty much perfect. Very impressed with this new printer I have to say.
