Please, someone tell me that I am missing something!!

I want to export the words "contact us" which are in white, with an internal bevel applied in the attached file. I want the background to be transparent (ie no blue and black lines to be shown).

I select the words "contact us" (converted to a shape so as not to upset PCs without the same fonts as me), and press CTRL+SHIFT+E

I select the button showing the wine glass on a transparent background, and the blue/black lines vanish from the preview.

Only, so too does most of the white from my bevel. Display the produced GIF on the indended stripey background, and it looks daft - with no white in it.

If I change the Xara file's background from white to, say, RED, the same thing happens - the white is removed.

Yet if I save the Xara X file and load it into CorelXARA2 (making sure the bevel is converted to shapes), I can do a normal CTRL+SHIFT+E, check the Transparent option, and everything is well. It removes the stripes but keeps the white in place.

I don't like the new export dialogue box at all - I much prefer the old one. Unless I can save the colours used and re-use the exact same colours over a series of exports, I can't see any point in the whole dialogue box - other that what was in Xara 2 already.

The only proper and useful improvement I can see is the ability to preview a JPEG in one pane and a GIF in the other.

Oh, and please build a "Don't tell me this again" toggle button in the error window saying that I must save my Xara document before Xara can include the Design Notes (for the Dreamweaver integration)!

    Daniel,

Try changing your color to RGB 255, 255, 254 and export. I've found that if you try to create a transparent .gif of a shape or text that is filled w/ pure white (RGB 255, 255, 255), you get the anti-aliased outline of the object. With your bevel example, anywhere you have pure white content you get transparency.

As I said this is the only bug I've found so far. I've been running X here at work (PII-450, NT4.0 SP5, 256MB, SCSI, Matrox G-200) and at home (PIII-500, NT 4.0 SP5, 256Mb, SCSI, Matrox G-400) since last Friday and have had no reboots. (knock on wood)
