    Default Airbrush fill

    I've been trying to figure this out for awhile. Can anyone replicate a fading airbrush-like fill? The attached file is not a great example, but I think you get the idea... it's important to have a random, grainy fade, as was used back in the 30s. Any ideas?

    Maybe using the inner shadow technique in combination with a speckle brush.

    Hi GooseK,

    Welcome to Talkgraphics.

    Maybe the thread http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthre...&highlight=map has a technique that is similar to what you want.

    The easiest way I found to do this is;

    1. make an external contour of your landmasses.

    2. Then convert the contour to a shape (This will make a group consisting of the landmass and the contour)

    3. Create a clone (cntrl-k) of the landmass.

    4. Add the landmass and the clone.

    5. Fill the resulting shape with your fade color.

    6. Move it behind your landmass...

    7. Fade the fade till it looks like you want...

    8. Drink a beer, your done.
