I run Windows XP Professional. I just tried it and I didn't get thumbnails in Windows Explorer UNTIL I set View to Thumbnails. What is your View set to?

Yep that's right, you need to set Windows Explorer to thumbnail view (which is the case for all file types that show a thumbnail of the file content).

I installed the new version trial on a spare machine running XP and I have the thumbnails for .xar files right away without any need for plugins or third party apps.
Of course those .xar viewers are terrific for people that don't actually have Xara installed
