    Hi,

I only started using Xara X 20misn ago lol.

Basically ive got text on the screen and then used the contour tool to create the cool design around the text.

However the rest of the screen is white and i wanna make it grey but when i select the Fill Tool and a colour i am told no objects are currently selected. How do i basically fill the whole screen withot having to draw a huge rectangle all over it and then having to fill that????

    thanks

p.s. i hope you understand me lol

Bring up the color gallery (f9) click on the color you want for the page background and click on the background tab. If you don't want it anymore right click anywhere the background and choose default background.

It's easy to do. To make your background a different color:

    Open the color gallery.
    Select the color you want.
    Click the background button.

Or hold down the control key and drag a colour onto the page.

Well, There are two tips I did not know. usually just draw a rectangle behind what I want. Could never remember how to clear the background color, so never used it. Like that cntl-color tip christine. thanks!

"Or hold down the control key and drag a colour onto the page." Right!

You can drag colors from color palete (or color editor) on objects, strating-ending-middle-nodes of gradients, contours etc. etc. etc.).

p.s.: I learned this from Gary Priester ;-)
