Default Corel 12 Read Corel 8 Files Ok?

As a sideline to another thread....I run XP and may be upgrading to Coreldraw 12 as suggested. Will I have any trouble reading the Coreldraw 8 files? Does Corel 12 run pretty much like 8 or will there be a learning curve?

There are differences. Text and on screen display is better than 8 in 12. The Symbols palette in 12 is a place to store reuseable artwork like credit cards, road signs and such. It has been replaced by the Character Palette which allows you to insert hidden characters you may not know the code for and to search and preview fonts like Wingdings, etc. There are more tools: eraser, virtual segment delete, roughen, smudge.

There are no significant differences in PhotoPaint except the addition of more tools like the touch up and red eye removal brushes.

Node tracking is not automatically turned on in 12 or X3 for that matter and if you use it, you can turn it on in options.

A big difference is VBA vs. CorelScript. If you have been using a lot of CorelScript, in most cases you can change one line of syntax in a text editior and play them in 12 but you cannot record new ones, but you can record VBA.
Every day's a new day, "draw" on what you've learned.
