    Default Curvature Cursing

    An annoyance:
Is there a way to retain equal corner curves on rectangles?
Once a rectanglular shape with curved corners is created, resizing the rectangle via the handles (or info bar) throws the curved corners completely out of whack rather than remaining proportional to the new shaped (not new scaled) rectangle.
    I'm missing something?

This is an often-related tale of woe on the forums. The short answer is that you're not missing anything, that's just the way it works. The curvature of the corners is based on the dimensions of the rectangle when it's initially created, so changing the dimensions "squashes" the corners.

The currently accepted workaround for this is to use object snapping to draw a new rectangle over the old one and then apply your curvature again. A Copy/Paste attributes usually gets things back to where you expect.
This signature would be seven words long if it was six words shorter.

The workaround comes to an end. Charles said:

But now if you use the Rectangle tool to re-size, this will no longer squash the roundedness of the corners.
This would be the same logic as Inkscape handles the curvature of rectangles.

    great Mr. Moir!

although I understood the reasoning behind it and try to remember to scale first and round after, it would still frustrate me.

Until 3.2, there is a relatively nifty workaround:

    1. Turn on Snap to Object
    2. Redraw the rectangle to the same dimensions over the top (easy with the snap feature on)
    3. Delete the original, and then applying curvature to the new rectangle
