    Question 'Black' Outline...

Hi Gurus & Other Brilliant Xara Folk,

I made this Blinking Animation -the letters (the larger ones) take on a small black outline when Xara Got Finished with...

I checked, Black is NOT selected as Line color when making & enlarging the letters (use the contour tool)... didn't see any black line color there either...

Is there something or somewhere else I can check? Would like to see without the black-outline...

    Thanks - Tom

    Tom,

The Contour on the large text on Frame 2 has a black outline.

(( Pix says it all ))

I guess Xara just wants it to be... Black (and affinity) or I've found a 'Bug'

(( Any RAID for this? Or, is it Flit in UK? ))

    Any thoughts/Direction Appreciated - Thanks - Tom

Tom look at the square in the lower left of the image in my post. You are selecting more than the contour therefore you see the colours of the dominant shapes. Your status line shows you have 11 objects selected.

Click on the block outline of the letters in Frame 2. Check the lower left square and the status line to verify it shows you have the contour selected. You will see a black outline and a pale green fill.

Tom zoom in close as shown in the image in my earlier post. That is about the only way to select the contour without selecting the text or the text column.

I did not post the edited .xar file because I do not have the font you are using.

Once you have the contour selected all you need to do is right click on the crosshatch square to remove the outline colour.

    Tom / Bill,

This effect seems to be created when using text and then then applying a contour. The two, text and contour remain two seperate entities. So if you have a line of text with a red fill and a black stroke and aplly a contour, the contour also has a black stroke. Now if you select the text with the text tool, and apply a red stroke, this is ONLY applied to the text object whilst the contour object retains it's black stroke. That is would I would suggest has happened here.

Tom-Bearer of Bad-News... (don't hit me) See Pix
Zoomed 500% - Contour Selected - Right Clicked - Lost 'Black' Outline
Acquired Grey-with Black-Outline -but Color Square shows 'NO' Outline...
Still No Pale Green in Sight (now I wonder where that went)

Sorry Bill - Tom (where can I get Redial-Class) - I am Sorry...

Tom your status line is still showing you have the text selected.

You must click on the contour, the black line around the text.

    To make this very easy.

Select the text, then the Contour Tool. Change the contour from 1 pixel in size to 10 pixels. That will make it extremely easy to select. Once it is selected right click the crosshatch square to remove the outline colour. Then change the contour back to 1 pixel in size.

An alternate method of selecting the contour:

    Select the Text

    Hit the Tab Key

The Status line should now show the contour is selected.

    Tom,

Bill is correct. The easiest way to see it is to select the contour, arrange / convert to editable shapes / ungroup and select each element in turn and offset it. I've applied a shadow to the shapes in the screen grab to highlight the stacking.
